Antycip Simulation expands to provide innovative simulation solutions for crane and heavy equipment training

Gothenburg, Sweden, 27 April 2010 – Antycip Simulation today announced the creation of a dedicated business unit for crane and heavy equipment simulation solutions in Europe. This new activity will complement Antycip Simulation´s portfolio with a new offering to the market specialised in meeting crane and heavy equipment training needs. Antycip Simulation, the European leader in the provision of simulation software, projection solutions and related engineering services is a subsidiary of ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd.

Antycip Simulation has enhanced its existing partnership with CMLabs which has developed a strong offer for crane and heavy equipment simulation solutions in recent years. This offer includes three main products: the entry-level Vortex VxTrainer, VxAdvantage and the fully-immersive VxMaster. Each solution is modular and provides ready to use scenarios, useable straight out of the box for training purposes for construction, port and offshore equipment operations.  The main benefits of the solution are the immersion of users in a safe environment and the reduction of overall training costs.

A recent success for Antycip Simulation and CMLabs  is the conclusion of a contract with   PNI, a leading Training Centre  from Norway, specialised in offshore and crane operator training. This contract includes a full training solution dedicated to crane and offshore training. This team-based training environment promotes a safety-first approach to performing offshore heavy-lift operations. The solution provides a truly collaborative framework for training based on requirements from OMHEC, API, NORSOK, UK-HSE offshore operator training standards.

“After an extensive search for the right combination of simulation-based crane training expertise, team-based immersive learning and a proven track record for delivering on-time, we chose Vortex for our training solution. An essential aspect of our crane operations training is teamwork – training operators, slingers and banksmen simultaneously to prepare them for typical tasks and challenges in offshore operations. Vortex was the only provider we found that has this expertise, and together we have created an industry first for heavy-lift training operations. Our students will really benefit – the results will be more experienced and skilled crews, and safer operations.”

~ Geir GISLASON,
Chairman, PNI Training Centre

“We are pleased to bring the Vortex crane simulation solutions to our customers in Europe. There are many benefits in using simulators, they improve safety, allowing students to train without any risk, and provide a better interaction between instructors and machines. In addition, training costs decrease drastically, wear and tear on actual and expensive equipment is reduced, students can easily practise and become more confident when using the real equipment. The final result is better and faster learning. A recent analysis by the BCMEA (British Columbia Maritime Employer’s Association) has shown that port crane operators reach the same level of proficiency in 50% less time when using simulators as part of their training programme.  We believe that in the future, every training centre will need simulators.”
