TrianGraphics releases Trian3D Builder 3.0

Berlin - April 26, 2010 - TrianGraphics GmbH today announces the release of version 3.0 of Trian3D Builder – a database generation system for detailed correlated 3D terrains of arbitrary size.

This major release upgrades Trian3D Builder concerning features, stability, user confidence and comfort. The huge development and testing effort that was put into the new version during the last year is also reflected by the version change from 2.2.7 to 3.0.

TrianGraphics will shortly present the new Trian3D Builder release at ITEC 2010, booth G140.

New Features and Improvements

Trian3D Builder 3.0 comes with a multiplicity of new features:

  • New VBS2 and FBX exporters
  • Multiple tile grids that can intersect for optimal terrain settings in every area
  • Enhanced generation speed and optimized memory usage
  • Additional export formats including OBJ, STL, COLLADA in the basic program
  • FACC assignment in libraries
  • More flexible interpolation for insert borders
  • New vector tools to populate areas and to verify vector data
  • New roof types (gable, shed...)

“We always wanted to prove that terrain generation can be a simple task.” said Stephan Kussmaul, Managing Director, TrianGraphics GmbH. “With the significant enhancements in Trian3D Builder's new release, we are extremely proud to now offer the leading technology for terrain generation. I want to encourage everyone to evaluate our product to form his own opinion.”

New VBS2 and FBX Export Capabilities

The VBS2 Exporter also abides to the main application's concept of ease of use. The operator simply switches an existing database's export format to VBS2 and the terrain settings like tile size and texture resolution will automatically be adjusted to the VBS2 constraints.

Geospecific or generic/geotypic texturing may be used and all modifiers for texturing, object placement and generation are supported. By assigning the new modifier “VBS2 surface“ to vector data, new detail texture surfaces with different clutter object layers may be defined in an easy way.

All models are automatically converted into VBS2's .p3d object format and all p3d objects from the VBS2 library may be imported and placed in Trian3D Builder. Furthermore the generation of roads from arbitrary vector data is supported.

Converting existing terrains to VBS2 thus is a matter of minutes. The terrain may now be generated and directly loaded into VBS2 without the need for another processing or conversion step. The generated geographical data like satellite imagery and shape data may also be used in the VBS2 tools.

In a similar way the FBX Exporter enables the user to generate terrains in Autodesk's exchange format FBX as binary or text type.

Customer Benefits

Trian3D Builder provides a powerful feature set for all types of realtime simulations and keeps the tool chain surprisingly simple. Some highlights of Trian3D are the following:

  • Large-scale terrain generation with high-res insets optimized for realtime rendering
  • Comprehensive vector import, creation and editing features
  • Automatic generation of airports, roads, crossings and buildings
  • Specific, geotypic and generic texturing with automatic object placement
  • Various export formats (such as FLT/MFT, native OSG, GDB, VBS2, FBX)
  • Interactive terrain editing in internal 3D viewer (WYSIWYG)

Company

TrianGraphics was founded in 2004 and is based in Berlin, Germany. The privately held corporation is operating on the Vis/Sim market and is specialized in generating databases for all types of real-time simulations. Besides the service of terrain generation, TrianGraphics is developing the COTS DBGS Trian3D Builder, which came into the market 2006.
